The looks and responses I get for my company name are always interesting. Most people immediately associate "Avatar" with James Cameron's hit movie. While my company name truly has nothing to do with that film what-so-ever, it does have a rather interesting story behind it. And everybody loves interesting stories... "Avatar" was originally the name of my video game concept, which is now called "Wicked". It was named this because the main character of my story is known as "The Avatar", and The Avatar is modeled after myself; He has my looks, mixed with Wolverine's attitude, and some Spawn-like aesthetics. He is also "the" black-ops angel sent to earth to destroy Lucifer, once and for all. Well, obviously James Cameron has a lot more money than I do, and his feature film hit the theaters first. And when it did, I was like, "Dammit!!!". At any rate... So then I moved back home to Boston after checking-out the west coast, and I decided to change the name of my concept from "Avatar" to "Wicked". I did this because the concept itself is very goth-based, plus I'm originally from Boston; The place where the slang term "wicked" originated to be used in a positive light; i.e.~ "Wicked" awesome, "wicked" cool, etc. So in essence, "wicked" in Boston slang actually means "very". And my concept is "very" a lot of things, for sure. But I kept the term "avatar" in my company name as that is still the name of the lead character of Wicked. Beyond that, "AvatarINK" has it's own meaning, as well. The term "avatar" is actually a noun; An avatar is the physical manifestation of a deity who has descended upon the earth. In being an artist, I've been told that I'm "gifted". And in being gifted, I have the "god-like" ability to create beauteous and wondrous things. Also, the ink I use is digital, which has theoretically infinite "god-like" properties, unto itself. Also, my name is "Drew", and I consider myself the physical manifestation of that of which I bring into this world; I draw and create pieces of wonder, hence... I "drew" that. And I link the two words together, as I am also one with my art. So there is the story behind my company name, "AvatarINK".
